HISTORY OF THE ST. JOHN'S WATER DOG
THE ST. JOHN'S WATER DOG, NOW AN EXTINCT DOG BREED, THE LAST KNOWN ONE DYING IN THE EARLY 1930'S, WAS A DOG BREED CREATED BY NATIVE CANADIANS, USING A NATIVE CANADIAN DOG MIXED WITH NEWFOUNDLAND, ALSO A NATIVE CANADIAN DOG BREED INVENTION. THE DOGS WERE UTILIZED BY THE NATIVES TO PULL FIREWOOD, WILD GAME, PERSONAL BELONGINGS, OR PACK A BACK PACK LOADED WITH UP TO 70LBS OF SUPPLIES. THEIR MAIN USE HOWEVER, WAS TO RETRIEVE HUGE, FISHING NETS FROM THE ST. JOHN'S BAY/ATLANTIC OCEAN, LOADED WITH UP TO 500 LBS OF FISH PER CATCH. THE DOGS WITH THEIR WEBBED FEET/PAWS AND INCREDIBLE STRENGTH, WERE HIGHLY VALUED AS A BEAST OF BURDEN FOR THE NATIVES.
ANOTHER FACT OF INTEREST TO READERS, IS THAT TODAY'S MODERN LABRADOR RETRIEVER, THE FLAT COATED, CURLY COATED, AND THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER ALL DESCEND FROM THE ST. JOHN'S WATER DOG.
MAJESTIC VIEW KENNELS HAS RECREATED THIS EXTINCT DOG BREED BY USING THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN DOG(R) AND NEWFOUNDLAND TO CREATE THE ST. JOHN'S INDIAN DOG.
THESE DOGS ALSO, HAVE INCREDIBLE PULLING STRENGTH, HIGH INTELLIGENCE, TRAINABLE FOR ALMOST ANY TASK, INCLUDING BEING UTILIZED AS A HUMAN SERVICE DOG IN ANY AND ALL CAPACITIES. THE TRAIT MOST HIGHLY VALUED, AND INHERITIED FROM THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN DOG(R) IS THE FACT THAT THEY TOO, ARE HYPOALLERGENIC AND NON- DROOLERS!! NO HEALTH ISSUSES

Hello Karen,
Well it has been a week with Gander (what I named him). He is the sweetest pup I have ever come in contact with. I have rescued and fosters many puppies and litters alike, and his deposition is the calmest and well mannered. I keep saying the Puppy God's have blessed me because I have never had a puppy with this nature.
Him and Cessna are just now starting to play which is great. While playing last night Gander's ears have popped up and are now up for good. I was unsure if this was going to happen with the Newfie in him, but they have and shockingly very early. The short video in this email shows them up now.
He is doing so well, still lots of sleeping. However, he is sleeping through the night with no accidents which is awesome. He is going to be an amazing doing. If his disposition continues I will more than likely train him for a therapy dog. Still a little early to tell, especially if he picks up on any of Cessna's bad behaviors.
I am getting many comments and many that have NAIDS that have fallen in love. I would imagine if you had another litter they would go pretty quick as well. I also have family and couple friends that would consider since his demeanor is amazing.
Hope all is well, enjoy the pictures.
Laura, Gander and Cessna
