Hi Karen,
Well, Shila will be 5 months old on February 15th. Our little Alaskan Indian Dog female went to the vet yesterday for her final rattlesnake booster shot. She weighed in at 48.6 lbs which was 7.5 lb gain in 4 week's.
Balls of all shapes and sizes, especially ones that squeak or make noises are among her favorite toys. She loves to roll them around and toss them in in the air. We were surprised when she started bringing them to us and quickly learned to drop them or release them into our hand so we could throw them for her. At first she just loved the chase, but now it's an all out game of fetch. Our Native American Shepherds love toys, but neither of them ever played fetch.
Shila had her second session of grooming last week. She has quickly learned that grooming is not so bad and feels good. She has stopped by biting at the brushes and will now pick a brush up if she finds it and brings it to me to brush her.
I started doing my own grooming with Utah at a self serve grooming parlor when our groomer retired. He came out looking better when I did it and its great bonding time. Now I take each of them at a different time for special one on one time with my them.
As you can see from the pictures I took tonight, she has completely changed in color and appearance from the solid red chocolate puppy she was. Shila didn't have a mask when we got her and look at the beautiful mask she is developing now! You can't see it in the pictures, but she has a 3 in long black streak down the middle of the upper half of her tail with a red chocolate tip of about an inch.
The pictures are a true depiction of her actual coloring. I need to update her licensing, micro chip and ownership records on her coloring. She is so unusual, I don't really know what color to list her as. I need your help...What would you suggest?
It's like each day she gives us a new surprise in her looks.
We really enjoy watching her transformation. With her green eyes, she has gone from being a beautiful puppy to a stunning beauty. Can't wait to see where she will take us as she grows up.
Not only is she beautiful on the outside, she has a beautiful, sweet soul too. Shila has become quite a cuddler. She loves to give and receive affection. And she continues to train easily as she wants to be with us and please us.
Utah, our big, majestic Native American Shepherd weighed in at 98 lbs yesterday. He loves his puppy and is so glad to to have a Shila as his new partner in life. Her arrival has brought joy back to his life. Shila is just as attached to him. They are quite the pair.
As I'm sure it you can tell, we are in smitten with the latest addition to our family. She too is one of a kind and we love Shila to death.
